Pokemon Party

For my son's 7th Birthday Party, he wanted a Pokemon Theme. With a dozen children expected at my home, I prepared for several crafts, games, food and FUN!!

CLICK HERE for many of the craft ideas I used! I created a Pokemon Art Gallery on the living room wall with everyone's creations.

I think the children most enjoyed putting THESE paper roll Pokemon characters together!

Later it was time for games! I used the "Pin the Tail on the Charmander idea and others found on this website.

I also used the Internet to grab great ideas for invitations, food, loot bags and even a pattern for Pokemon BINGO!! Everyone had a great time!

Edible Bird's Nest

Materials: Chow mien noodles, chocolate chips or brick chocolate, Jelly beans, candy coated chocolate eggs, marshmallow chicks, peanut butter, wax paper, paper plates (colored plates optional)

Directions: Place squares of wax paper onto to individual plates. Put chow mien noodles in a large bowl. If using brick chocolate, break into pieces. Melt chocolate chips or pieces in the microwave, or over low heat on stove, just until melted. Pour melted chocolate over chow mien noodles, mix together to coat. Place mounds of chocolate/chow mien mixture onto several plates (on top of waxed paper). Have children form the mixtures into nests. Be sure the chocolate has cooled, but don't wait too long or it will harden!Using peanut butter as an adhesive, "glue" down the jelly beans and candy coated chocolate eggs inside the nest cavity. "Glue" marshmallow chick on the edge of or inside of the nest.

Spring DAZE in Winnipeg

Although it may not look like Spring DAZE in Winnipeg, I presented my workshop to a delightful and sunny group at the Manitoba Child Care Association. After 2 hours, we had developed over 101 ideas to celebrate Spring, and then returned outside to blowing snow :)

Thank you to all those who attended. Keep your spirits focused on the "green" DAZE to come. Send me your successful ideas and the pictures of how you implemented the workshop's ideas. I would love to hear more of your songs, stories and poems.

Scratch 'n Sniff Necklace

Materials: Paper Clips, Powdered Fruit Drink in one or more of the following flavors: Strawberry, Orange, Raspberry, Pineapple, Grape, Index Paper, Fruit in Color or Black & White, White Glue, Crayons (optional), Hole Punch

Directions: Print on Index and cut out fruit in Color or Black & White. If using black and white fruit, use crayons to color pieces. Spread a small amount of glue on each piece. Sprinkle each piece with matching powdered fruit drink mix. Let dry.

Punch a hole in each fruit and string on a paper clip. String a bunch of paper clips together to form necklace. Add fruit

pieces.

Curtain of Hanging Hearts

Cut out different size hearts out of construction

paper and then tape them to different lengths of ribbon. On each heart write encouraging words or sweet valentine sentiments and always an "I love you" and a "I love being your mommy". Then hang them in the doorway of your children's room so that when they wake up in the morning they see this as soon as they walk through their door.

Pink and Red Inspiration

Without any ideas, my children and I gather everything pink and red from the "Craft Cupboard". The result are a collection of sweet Valentine's Day cards using construction paper, old greeting cards, buttons, stamps, and stickers. We used hot glue and glue sticks, scissors and a white gel pens as our tools to complete the project.
